
Dr. Pranav Bhushan is a doctoral student in Global Health at York University and is also associated with the Institute of Global Public Health (IGPH), University of Manitoba, as a public health specialist. With over 13 years of experience spanning research, policy, and implementation, his work has focused on strengthening health systems and improving the delivery of equitable, high-quality healthcare across low- and middle-income countries.
His professional experience encompasses the design, implementation, and evaluation of public health programs across Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn, Child, and Adolescent Health (RMNCAH), primary healthcare, and urban health. He has worked closely with governments and development partners to translate evidence into policy and practice, leading health system assessments, implementation research, and quality improvement initiatives aimed at improving service delivery for underserved and marginalized populations. As part of the Government of India's Aspirational Districts Program, he led multidisciplinary teams in designing and implementing data-driven strategies to improve health system performance in some of the country's most vulnerable districts.
As a doctoral researcher, Pranav's interests have evolved towards applying health systems thinking to understand and address inequities in urban health. His research focuses on how health system and community engagement interact to influence access to essential healthcare for last-mile urban populations, with a particular emphasis on MNCH. He is especially interested in generating implementation-relevant evidence that informs policies and health system reforms to improve equitable access to quality care in rapidly urbanizing settings.
His broader research interests include implementation science, and the application of systems approaches to improve health outcomes in resource-constrained settings. Through his work, he aims to bridge the gap between research, policy, and implementation by producing evidence that supports more resilient, responsive, and equitable health systems.
