- SEO Update & Training - Yoast and Content Creation:
On Dec. 9 the community was invited to a SEO best practices training session where an industry expert outlined SEO Best Practices. Included in the presentation was tips and insight into creating content that was easily identified by search engine website crawlers, with a goal to enhance our overall content discoverability. Some of the topics covers included: heading and body copy writing, page organization, image tagging and sizing, Yoast plugin updates as well as how all these work together to improve internal and external search. A new tagging structure has been implemented for all York University websites including those not on the York 2020 WordPress theme. The tagging structure is aimed at helping classify and codify the types of information we present to all our key stakeholders and improve internal search experience Facilitate non-hierarchical discovery across the network of York campuses, faculties, and organizations through tags.
