Additional Qualifications (AQs) are courses offered by accredited providers available to members of the Ontario College of Teachers (OCT). Ontario teachers take AQs to teach an additional subject or division, to better support students and to increase their earning potential.
York University’s AQs are taught by seasoned educators with years of classroom experience. These Instructional Leaders will guide and mentor you through your first AQ experience.
As a soon-to-be York U graduate, you benefit from a $50 registration fee discount on eligible AQ courses beginning May 5, 2026. Simply enter your student number upon registration to receive the discount.

You can register for an AQ course that starts May 5th if:
- you have successfully completed all the graduation components of your B.Ed program (even if you have a Transitional Certificate) and
- you have started the registration process to become a member with the OCT
The AQ will appear on your OCT certificate once you are fully certified.
