2022 Planetary Health Film Lab Micro Film Festival
An event hosted by the Dahdaleh Institute.
2022 Planetary Health Film Lab Micro Film Festival
Please join us for a micro film festival highlighting fifteen short films created by Indigenous youth from Ecuador. The films focus on planetary health issues and represent the culmination of the 2022 edition of the Planetary Health Film Lab in Quito, Ecuador.
Date: August 19, 2022
Time: 6 to 8 p.m.
Led by Dahdaleh Institute Research Fellow and award-winning documentary filmmaker Mark Terry, the Planetary Health Film Lab has provided this year’s participants with opportunities to conduct research, film interviews with elders from their communities, and collect footage of landscapes and wildlife for their films. The youth will finalize production of their films at a one-week intensive workshop featuring post-production training and lectures delivered by local and international experts in the fields of planetary health, filmmaking, Indigenous studies, youth studies, the United Nations (UN), and participatory storytelling techniques to inform and influence UN policymakers.
Experts from event co-organizers Escuela Politécnica Nacional and its Quechua Academy of Humanities will work with the participants in their native languages of Kichwa and Shuar to ensure all films are subtitled in both English and Spanish. The films will be showcased at a special event at the UN Climate Change Conference, COP27, taking place this November in Sharm El-Sheik, Egypt.
