Assault with a weapon - Keele Campus Please be advised that York Security Services received a report before 7pm this evening of an altercation involving a student and several non-community members who are known to each other.

The suspects brandished a knife and injured a non community member bystander who has been taken to hospital. The suspects immediately fled the scene. Toronto Police Service are investigating and have indicated that the incident was not random and that there is no immediate threat to the community.

York is assisting the investigation and are stepping up patrols of the area. · The goSAFE service escorts York community members to and from any location on-campus in evenings and at night.
· Emergency Blue Lights and Safety Phones are located throughout York's campuses and provide a direct line to Security Services and goSAFE.
· The Why Work Alone program operated by Security Services, provides check-ins with community members who are working alone on campus on evenings, weekends or holidays.
· The YorkU Safety App provides a direct link to Security Services and goSAFE. It also provides campus safety alerts and information about safety resources.
· For faculty and staff in need of support, please call the Employee and Family Assistance Program toll-free 24 hours a day, seven days a week for immediate, confidential help at 1-800-268-5211; TTY Service is available at 1-800-363-6270.

Where possible walking in pairs or groups in the evening hours is recommended for community members, as is the use of goSAFEservices.
