Guidelines for the Use of Video Surveillance

Notice of Collection

Purpose

The Community Safety Department uses video surveillance, also known as closed-circuit television (CCTV), for safety and security purposes.

Legal authority

The personal information collected by the use of the video equipment at York University is collected under the authority of the York University Act, 1965 and the Occupiers’ Liability Act.

The Department must comply with the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act and the York University Policy on Access to Information and Protection of Privacy.
