INTRODUCTION
The Athletic Therapy Certificate program prepares candidates for a unique health care profession working with active Canadians and athletes. Certified Athletic Therapists work in a variety of health care settings including universities, colleges, private schools, amateur and professional sport, fitness facilities and private clinics. This health care profession has the unique combination of knowledge relating to both clinical and field settings.
Currently, students can combine an honours undergraduate Kinesiology and Health Science degree with the Athletic Therapy Certificate. This provides the foundation of kinesiology with further knowledge related to the prevention and treatment of injury. Typically, the three year Athletic Therapy Certificate commitment is completed during the four year honours degree. Specific courses, field and clinical experiences, and laboratory experiences are must be completed in order to receive the certificate. Typically also, some students enter the program after an undergraduate, honours degree in Kinesiology and Health Science from York University or other university (York University core courses in Kinesiology and Health Science or their equivalents must be completed).
The School of Kinesiology and Health Science and York University value the provision of educational opportunities in the area of athletic injury prevention and management. The overall competence of those handling prevention and injury management in athletics and recreational is facilitated by a comprehensive academic and practicum program in the prevention and treatment of injuries. The Athletic Therapy Certificate is instrumental in developing the necessary knowledge and skills for those involved in the prevention, assessment, treatment and rehabilitation of sport and recreational injuries.
Athletic Therapy Certificate Fall and Winter Information Sessions: These sessions run once in the fall and once in the winter to provide information on the Athletic Therapy Certificate. The winter session will be held on Tuesday February 14, from 4-5 pm in the Masters Dining Hall, Stong College. Come and ask any questions you may have about the Athletic Therapy Certificate program.

ATC undergraduate applications are due APRIL 1 for the following school year.
Applications for the Advanced Standing in Athletic Therapy will receive priority if received by February 15. Applications for the Advanced Standing program will be accepted up until March 30, but applications submitted by February 15 receive priority.
