YU ROC! (York University Research on Campus Network)

Description

The YU ROC! (York University Research on Campus) Program will establish and maintain a student-run urban biodiversity monitoring program on campus. The program will connect first-year and upper year students who share a passion for the environment and encourage them to actively pursue that passion by engaging in hands-on environmental research opportunities on both campuses (Keele and Glendon). The student-led program will enhance the first-year student experience by 1) creating a sense of community among students and faculty as they work together to realize a unique environmental monitoring program, 2) developing a sense of environmental stewardship for their campus, and 3) gaining hands-on experience in running environmental monitoring programs. YU ROC’s student-led urban biodiversity monitoring program will be the first campus-wide undergraduate research initiative of its kind in Ontario.
