Equity, Diversity, Decolonization and Inclusion in Teaching and Learning Community of Practice Speakers Project

Description

This project comes out of the Equity, Diversity, Decolonisation, and Inclusion (EDDI) in Teaching and Learning Community of Practice (CoP). Community members lead sessions on topics such as anti-racist, decolonising, queer, and inclusive pedagogies. It will expand on the existing capacity of our CoP as follows:

  • eight monthly synchronous sessions will be led by paid experts drawn from our community membership or by invited guest speakers;
  • In Spring 2023 the CoP will host a free public event emerging from the internal speaker series;
  • The CoP will employ a research assistant to create a series of 5-10 EDDI-themed teaching tip sheets.

This project will support the pedagogical development of all who teach at York, enabling instructors to incorporate research and best practices for equitable, diverse, decolonised, and inclusive teaching and learning. Instructor capacity in this area is foundational to student success, and well-resourced, community-driven spaces develop and sustain this growth.
