International Renewable Energy Academy @ York

Description

Ontario’s coal phase-out and its new climate change plan have transformed our province into a leading renewable energy destination in North America. Ontario is also home to a new community-oriented renewable energy approach located in Oxford County. The proposed project will create a signature one-week event titled the International Renewable Energy Academy (IREA). IREA will bring to York, every June, world-class experts, professionals and graduate and undergraduate students for a unique learning experience that will harness York University’s traditional strengths in social analysis, ethics, and environmental studies. IREA will first facilitate e-learning (through hands-on RETScreen Expert training aimed at teaching students how to use that software to model wind, solar, and EV projects, that exist in York U and in Oxford County, to understand implementation costs, feasibility analysis, financial requirements and GHG savings).
