Mapping a Path through Psychology: Connecting Curriculum to Career Readiness

Description

This project will develop “major maps” (i.e., visual mappings of program progression) to guide students through undergraduate psychology programs at York. Major maps will connect core academic and curricular requirements with experiential learning opportunities (i.e., co-curricular, extra-curricular) and career readiness resources to provide a year-by-year framework for psychology undergraduate students to use as a guide through our programs.

The tools created will also provide models of a variety of career paths available to graduates from our undergrad programs, thus improving student success both in university and beyond.

Project aims support SDG4 Quality Education by embedding elements of career exploration within the program trajectory, SDG8 Decent Work and Economic Growth by helping students identify and prepare for fulfilling career paths following graduation, and SDG10 Reduced Inequality by providing the same information about academic and “hidden” curricular experiences that should pursued when completing a psychology undergraduate degree to all students.
