The Next Wave of Experiential Education: An Interactive Simulation Video

Description

The purpose of this project is three-fold:

  1.  To develop and refine an interactive simulation video (with an embedded story line and decision-making points) geared to teach a conflict resolution communication skill, to undergraduate nursing students in a 4000 level Integrated Practicum course, in the context of providing culturally competent client care.
  2. To evaluate the effectiveness of the nursing students’, use of the conflict resolution skill in a HFS scenario, after exposure to either the interactive simulation video, or the client profile they currently receive.
  3. To collaborate with and evaluate the Theatre Program students’ experience related to their role in the simulation video, and as a Simulated Person (SP) in the HFS scenario evaluation component of the project.
