Job description
Under the supervision of Dr. Boateng, the Modelling Health Effects of Climate Change RAY Student (for up to 11 hours per week) will:
- Support the “Environmental Pollution, Climate Change and Health” project
- Assist with the analysis of quantitative and qualitative data
- Develop a critical literature review of existing studies on the health effects associated with exposure to extreme weather conditions in Canada.
- Attend and actively participate in a weekly meetings held by the Global and Environmental Health Lab
- Develop a publishable paper on the health effects of extreme weather conditions in Canada.
Specific research activities the student(s) will be engaged in:
- Analysing quantitative data in Excel, STATA and other software;
- Creating and maintaining a structured and annotated bibliographic review of existing literature organizing resources, projects, and individuals;
- Managing sources using reference management software.
- Participate in literature reviews and participate in the writing and editing of manuscripts summarizing research.
Qualifications
- Current undergraduate York student. Applicants from diverse programs of study are encouraged. - Demonstrated interest in global health.
- Demonstrated skills, experience, and familiarity with conducting literature reviews.
- Demonstrated knowledge of research methods (quantitative ).
- Demonstrated excellent analytic skills for understanding, sorting, and categorizing complex information. Statistical skills in the use of STATA, MPLUS, or R will be an asset.
- Demonstrated note-taking, journal-keeping, and filing skills.
- Demonstrated excellent communication skills: professional written and interactive correspondence, public speaking and presentation.
