Sumen Waraich is a global health and clinical research professional with experience in leading multidisciplinary projects focused on health systems innovation, pediatric care, and global health equity. Sumen is a current Medical Student at Toronto Metropolitan University and holds a Master’s in Global Health from Western University and a Postgraduate Certification in Clinical Research from Harvard University, where she developed expertise in research ethics and study design.
As a Research Assistant at The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids), Sumen contributed to a multidisciplinary clinical research initiative on pediatric obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). Her work focused on systematic data acquisition and validation of patient-reported outcomes within specialized sleep clinic settings. She collaborated closely with clinicians and research teams to enhance methodological rigor and ensure patient-centered approaches in pediatric health research.
Previously, Sumen worked as a Clinical Research Coordinator at Grandview Kids, where she developed essential study documents, clinical presentations, and process maps for the Extensive Needs Services evaluation. She facilitated the implementation of survey-based evaluation tools and cross-disciplinary collaboration within integrated healthcare teams. As a member of the Joint Research Ethics Board (JREB), she gained in-depth expertise in ethical governance, informed consent processes, and data-sharing frameworks—ensuring compliance with rigorous research standards.
At the Health Innovation Faculty at McMaster University, Sumen served as Research Lead for a study analyzing global integrated comprehensive care (ICC) models. This work published in the Elsevier Journal of Public Health, explored how ICC frameworks can enhance public health performance by comparing experiences from Canada and East Africa, offering cross-regional insights into collaborative care innovation, policy alignment, and systems integration. Her contributions reflect a deep commitment to advancing research that translates into scalable, equitable health solutions.
