APPLY HERE: Urban Watershed Management & Biodiversity Virtual Field Course BIOL 4001 3.0 (yorku.ca)

Urban Watershed Management and Biodiversity: The 2024 course is offered as a hybrid, with in-person laboratories and remote lecture sessions. It will run in York’s S1 term, with the start date being Monday, May 6th. The course will run for five weeks of the term, with 3 hours of lectures and 6 hours of labs per week.

On-line lectures: Mondays and Wednesdays from 10:30 am till 12 noon.

In-person labs: Mondays and Wednesdays from 2:30 pm till 5:30 pm.

We are aware that some students will have paid employment for which hours may conflict. Therefore, the course director will allow some flexibility for absences when they are notified in advance. But please note: this is not an asynchronous course.

While lectures will be posted online, lab sessions run in real time. And, you are expected to be present for a minimum of 50% of the labs and lecture times. If you find that you are unable to commit to being present either online or in-person during the scheduled times, then this course is not for you. Instead, the course director advises that you book off 2 weeks from work to take an in-person, residential 3-credit OUPFB field course.

Non-York students may apply to take this course under a Letter of Permission from their home university. Non-York students use the same online application form here to register their interest in enrolling.

Please watch the 4-minute video on the Category A course webpage describing how and why we took the course online. This video was presented at the Canadian Society of Ecology and Evolution August 2021 conference.
