The Bachelor of Science in Biology is a flexible program that offers students a diversity of courses ranging from molecules to ecosystems. Students can choose courses from many different areas in biology, or focus study in a particular field such as physiology, cell and molecular biology, genetics or ecology.

The Specialized Honours Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry, focuses on the chemistry of life, considering biology at the molecular and submolecular level. This program is shared with the department of Chemistry. This program is offered as both a Specialized Honours & Honours Major degree.

The Biomedical Science Stream of the Bachelor of Science Biology provides a comprehensive curriculum to prepare you for a career in biomedical research, medicine and other health-related professions. Courses focus on biomedically-relevant areas of cell and molecular biology and physiology: immunology, neurobiology, molecular genetics, cancer biology, animal physiology, genomics and proteomics, etc.

The Specialized Honours Bachelor of Science in Biotechnology focuses on the innovative use of living organisms to create new products that improve human health, food and the environment. This stream includes courses in molecular and cell biology, genetics, chemistry and biochemistry as well as economics and ethics.

York’s Program in Environmental Biology (B.Sc.) focuses on the biological components of environmental science. It equips students for further study, research, and work across government, conservation organizations, and the private sector in areas of consulting, assessment, outreach, and management.
