This year, the Emergency WASH Knowledge Portal featured the Safe Water Optimization Tool led by Dahdaleh Institute Research Fellow Dr. Syed Imran Ali, in its "Compendium of Water Supply Technologies in Emergencies".
The Emergency WASH Knowledge Portal is a comprehensive capacity development and decision support tool consisting of three distinct online platforms for the three WASH pillars: water supply, sanitation and hygiene. It systematically disaggregates water supply and sanitation technologies, as well as hygiene components, tools and approaches into their functional components, clarifies terminology and provides guidance on identifying the most appropriate WASH solutions in a given context for all relevant response phases of an emergency.
The online Compendium - housed in the WASH Knowledge Portal - is a comprehensive and structured online capacity development and decision support tool that allows real time filtering and configuration of water supply solutions in emergency settings. It provides detailed information on key decision criteria for all tried and tested emergency water supply technologies, information on cross-cutting issues, relevant to come up with informed water supply technology decisions in emergencies. The SWOT was highlighted in the Treatment section as part of various Chlorination technologies that can be used in WASH projects.
