Tiana Putric holds a Bachelor of Disaster and Emergency Management Specialized Honours degree from York University and is the first Disaster and Emergency Management undergraduate in North America to be awarded the Fulbright Killam Fellowship. Tiana is also a proud Dahdaleh alum.
Today, Tiana works with the Regional Municipality of York as an Emergency Management and Contingency Planning Specialist. As a community fellow, she will occasionally offer training, certification, and experiential learning opportunities to Global Health Interns who are studying and working at the intersection of health and disaster and emergency management. For instance, she would like to offer complementary Incident Management System (IMS) training and certification to interns. IMS is utilized by public, private, and nonprofit organizations – including hospitals and public health agencies – to respond to and recover from emergencies, disasters, and humanitarian crises. When possible, she would also like to invite interns to participate in in-person simulations of natural, technological, and intentional emergencies and disasters hosted by York Region.
