A recently released episode of the RawTalk Podcast features Dahdaleh Institute Faculty Member Dr. Amrita Daftary in which she discusses Tuberculosis. The RawTalk Podcast is a graduate student-run podcast at the University of Toronto about medical science, and focuses on the journeys, perspectives, and expertise of health researchers, professionals, students, patients, and community members.
On the most recent episode, the podcast features various scholars to discuss the difficulty to control an infectious disease such as Tuberculosis. The episode also invited guests such as Dr. Jun Liu, a Professor in the Department of Molecular Genetics at University of Toronto, who guides the conversation through current knowledge on TB and discusses the difficulties and advances in developing TB vaccines. Additionally, Dr. Sarah Fortune, the Director of TB Research Program at Harvard T. H. Chan School of Public Health, also joins the episode to outline TB drug resistance and the challenges posed by TB-HIV co-infection.
Dr. Amrita Daftary, Professor in the Department of Global Health at York University and Faculty Member at the Dahdaleh Institute, is featured in the episode in which she explains the process of diagnosing and treating TB, and later highlights challenges that patients with TB may face while accessing care.
