Mustafa is a fourth-year Honours Biology student in Biomedical Science at York University. He joined the BioCAM4 lab in 2025 through York's RAY program. Previously, he conducted research through LURA/NSERC funding with INZYMES lab studying microplastics in wastewater treatment systems, focusing on Activated Sludge Process and Moving Bed Biofilm Reactor technologies. In the INZYMES lab, his work includes performing EPS extraction protocols, conducting water quality analyses (COD, ammonia, microorganism counts), and analyzing data using Python and R. He assists with literature reviews, prepares materials for presentations and publications, and maintains weekly lab operations. This research experience has provided him with practical knowledge of wastewater treatment processes and their environmental implications. Outside the lab, Mustafa serves as a Student Success Mentor at York University and participates in various campus organizations supporting student academic development.
