Yasmin Husen is a Research Associate at the Dahdaleh Institute for Global Health Research and a graduate of York University’s Specialized Honours Bachelor of Science in Global Health. Her research focuses on environmental health and health equity, with particular interest in how structural and climate-related factors influence health outcomes among vulnerable populations.
At the Dahdaleh Institute, Yasmin worked under the supervision of Dr. Godfred Boateng on projects examining housing and energy insecurity as cancer risk factors and identifying gaps in One Health monitoring and evaluation systems. She is currently contributing to the HEATSCAPE-Africa project under the supervision of Dr. Benedict Weobong. The project seeks to understand how heat exposure influences depression and anxiety through sleep disruption and cognitive functioning in LMICs. Her role includes supporting evidence syntheses, manuscript development, and the translation of research findings into policy-relevant outputs.
Yasmin is passionate about advancing interdisciplinary research that informs equitable policy and strengthens public health systems and is committed to translating evidence into meaningful change for communities disproportionately affected by environmental and social inequities.
