Planetary Health

Planetary Health research calls urgent attention to the human health cost of environmental degradation and invites deeper reflection on the relationship between human and environmental wellbeing.

Planetary Health is a relatively new concept. The 2017 launch of The Lancet Planetary Health journal brought it to the fore as an urgent interrogation into the relationship between human civilization and the biosphere.

The Dahdaleh Institute regards ecological integrity as a determinant of health worldwide, human activity as pushing ecological limits to a breaking point, and climate change as a fundamental threat to human life. Our research supports and is climate action, because a healthy planet is indispensable to global health.
