Professor Bridget Stutchbury spoke about the danger posed by the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico to migrating birds on CBC Radio’s “Metro Morning,” and other local programs across Canada, July 9.

Stutchbury is the Canada Research Chair in  Ecology and Conservation Biology and a Distinguished Research Professor in the Department of Biology in York’s Faculty of Science & Engineering. She is the author of The Bird Detective, which describes her journeys through forests and jungles studying the sexual antics and social lives of birds, and details the science behind their surprisingly sophisticated and often amusing behavior. The book, published by HarperCollins April 16, also explains how understanding birds’ behaviour will help to conserve increasingly-threatened species.
