Jessica Vorstermans, an assistant professor in the Critical Disability Studies program in York University's School of Health Policy & Management, is co-editing an upcoming special section of the Michigan Journal of Community Service Learning (MJCSL) with Katie MacDonald, an assistant professor at Athabasca University. The special section is titled "Inequitable Ruptures, Rupturing Inequity: Theorizing the impacts of COVID-19 and racial injustice on Global Service Learning." It will be included in the Summer 2022 issue of the MJCSL.

Vorstermans and MacDonald are inviting proposals for scholarly articles on global service learning that incorporate reflective writing from host and receiving organizations, host families and/or student participants. They are seeking papers that uncover the complexity of this moment, plural understandings of how this moment is being lived, and the need for a meaningful centring of knowledge from hosts as we work to build a more reciprocal and equitable global service learning during and beyond the pandemic. The deadline for submissions is Sunday, Aug. 1.

The MJCSL is widely recognized as a leader in the field of community-engaged scholarship. It is open access, peer reviewed, and has authors and readers from around the world.
