Yes.
SC/BIOL 2030 3.0 will satisfy your requirements for SC/BIOL 2030 4.0 and will act as an accepted prerequisite for all courses that require SC/BIOL 2030 4.0.
However, SC/BIOL 2030 3.0 WILL NOT fulfill the same number of credits as SC/BIOL 2030 4.0. The former only provides three credits attached while the latter has four credits. The three-credit version was offered to allow students the ability to obtain this pre-requisite during the pandemic when courses were taught remotely.
Students must still complete the total number of required credits for their degree: Honours requires 120 credits; Bachelors requires 90 credits.
Students may find, through their “Degree Progress Report” or by checking the University Calendar, that the credit reduction of SC/BIOL 2030 3.0 to 3 credits, that they are now 1.0 credit short of the 120 or 90 total credits required for their undergraduate degree as stipulated by University regulations. Please note that obtaining the 120 or 90 credit minimum is a university requirement and so cannot be waived by the Department of Biology.
Further, SC/BIOL 2071 3.0 will also count towards all requirements for SC/BIOL 2070 3.0 as well as act as an acceptable prerequisite for courses requiring SC/BIOL 2070 3.0. There is no difference in the number of credits offered between SC/BIOL 2071 and SC/BIOL 2070.
