ARFL Spring Presentation: Making AI Risk Accessible with Compelling Analogies

Association of Retired Faculty and Librarians of York University (ARFL)

Members of YURA are invited to attend the ARFL Spring Presentation:

Making AI Risk Accessible with Compelling Analogies

Everyone will be affected by increasingly powerful AI systems, so everyone should be empowered to understand AI risks. This talk explores how to make AI risk and safety ideas more accessible through the use of engaging analogies. The goal will be to provide interesting ways of framing AI risk and safety that you can share with others.

Speaker: Darren McKee (MSc, MPA) is the author of Uncontrollable: The Threat of Artificial Superintelligence and the Race to Save the World (2023). He has served as a senior policy advisor and policy analyst for over 15 years and sits on the Board of Advisors for AIGS Canada, the leading safety and governance network in the country. McKee also hosts the international award-winning podcast, The Reality Check.

The link to join the meeting will be sent to YURA members at the end of April via a listserve message.
