Online Presentation:

Speaker:  Nick J. Mule, Sexuality Studies Coordinator and Professor, School of Gender, Sexuality and Women's Studies, Faculty of LA&PS

With increased claims of recognition, inclusion, and to some extent acceptance of LGBTQ+ people in Canada, a subsection of these communities warrants a closer examination due to their unique positioning. LGBTQ+ asylum seekers and refugee claimants face extensive challenges from arduous journeys, port of entry issues, to seeking status processes, and attaining proper resources and supports. Learn where Canada stands on LGBTQ+ asylum seekers and refugees and related policies and the mental health implications and why their social inclusion is challenged.
