Kaneff Tower Room 304, in-person, 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM on Tuesday November 10th 2026
Description:
This will be a hands-on, in-person session focused on creating the end-of-year financial forecast for all active 100, 200 and 300 cost centres within Organized Research Units (ORUs).
We’ll start by exploring what the financial forecast is, why it matters, and how it supports effective financial planning and decision-making. We’ll then walk through a practical example to demonstrate how to complete the forecast.
The remainder of the session will be dedicated to putting what you’ve learned into practice. You’ll have time to work on a first draft of your ORU’s forecasts, with support and guidance available throughout the process.
The goal: Leave the session with a completed first draft of your forecasts, ready to review and discuss with your Director.
What to expect:
- An overview of the end-of-year financial forecast and its importance.
- A step-by-step walkthrough using a practical example.
- Dedicated time to complete your ORU forecasts.
- In-person support and an opportunity to ask questions as you work.
What to bring: Your laptop and any information you need to complete your forecasts.
Come ready to learn, ask questions, and get your forecasts done!
