Summer Residence

2024 Summer Residence Applications are now open! Apply early to improve your chances of receiving an acceptance. Applications will be processed throughout the summer.

If you are an undergraduate student and require accommodations for a minimum of 30 nights, then Summer Residence is the right place for you.

Current undergraduate students as well as newly-admitted undergraduate students who are enrolled in courses during the Summer Term are eligible to apply for the Summer Residence program for York Students. All applications are subject to availability. Although the minimum length of stay in Summer Residence is 30 nights, priority will be given to applications for the entire summer period.

A separate Summer Residence program for students attending other recognized educational institutions will be offered in 2024. Please review the 2024 Summer Residence for Non-York Students information above for program and eligibility details.

Rooms are typically available from early May to mid-August. Students living in Undergraduate Residence during the Fall-Winter Term will be able to stay in their current room until their Summer Residence room is available.

Bedrooms are furnished with a single bed, desk, bookshelf, chair, dresser and closet. Students must supply their own bed linens, pillow, towels and toiletries.

Students have access to a common lounge equipped with a television with basic cable. There are no in-room phones, however the option to subscribe to telephone service for an additional fee is possible. Students may order in-room cable TV for an additional fee.

Basic cleaning service is provided in building common areas; however, residents are responsible for cleaning their own rooms/suites and for cleaning up after themselves in all common areas.

Yes. Summer Residence has a laundry room with YU-card operated washers and dryers.

No. Meal plans are not offered during the Summer Term. Students may purchase food at several campus food outlets. Students may keep a small refrigerator in their room and rental information can be provided upon request.

Applications typically launch in March of each year.

Summer Residence fees are posted to your student account each month. Please visit the Student Financial Services website for details on viewing and understanding your statement as well as how and when to pay.

Students staying as part of the Summer Residence for Non-York Students program are required to provide credit card details that will be used to process payment for Summer Residence fees at the beginning of each month.
