A joint event between the Centre for Indigenous Knowledges and Languages and the Dahdaleh Institute for Global Health Research will celebrate International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples (Aug. 9) with a special event on Aug. 3.
Running from 2:30 to 4 p.m., Indigenous Perspectives on Planetary Healing celebrates Indigenous knowledge and creates space for sharing perspectives on striving toward human and environmental well-being.
The discussion will focus on healing as it relates to environmental injustice, climate change, and/or biodiversity loss that sparks creativity, reciprocity, and knowledge-sharing among Indigenous and non-Indigenous researchers and practitioners (people working on the ground).
Led by Dahdaleh Institute for Global Health Research Faculty Fellow Professor Idil Boran and graduate student scholar Marlie Whittle, this event will feature presentations by:
- Nicole Redvers, assistant professor, Indigenous health, family and community medicine, University of North Dakota
- Lewis Williams, associate professor, Indigenous studies, University of Western Ontario
It will be followed by an open discussion moderated by:
- Idil Boran, associate professor, Department of Philosophy, York University
