Mandate
The Research Awards Committee shall make recommendations and provide advice to Council on policy matters related to research, innovation, and creative scholarship. It will promote and celebrate research and creative scholarship at the Faculty level. It will adjudicate Faculty level competitions and programs.

Meetings take place on Thursday from 1:00pm to 2:30pm (typically the third Thursday of the Month with exceptions *noted below)

The committee will adjudicate applications for research competitions that have limited number of submissions allowed by university, in these instances this committee will adjudicate submissions by faculty members and determine which application goes forward for university level adjudication. The committee will also adjudicate student research awards as applicable (e.g. Undergraduate Student Research Awards).
The committee adjudicates the following Faculty of Health grants/awards:
- Conference Travel Fund
- Minor Research Grants
- Junior Faculty Funds
- Dean’s Research Awards
- Collaborative Community-Based Research Seed Grant
- Special seed grant funded by donors
- Undergraduate Student Research Awards
- Special competitions (due to institutional limit on submissions)
The committee will make final funding decisions as required or provide recommendations to the Dean based on competition requirements.
The committee will be comprised of:
- One faculty member appointed from each of the Faculty’s schools/department (two year term, renewable once)
- Two graduate student representatives from different units (two-year term, renewable once).
- Associate Dean, Research and Innovation (ex officio)
