Auyonika Choudhury graduated with B.A. Honours in Actuarial Science in 2020 and is now an Actuarial Analyst with Zurich North America, one of the largest providers of insurance solutions and services to businesses and individuals.

"The Actuarial Science program at York University is a very well-rounded program and has allowed me to continuously challenge myself academically. Moreover, the diverse information and networking sessions throughout the years allowed me to build strong connections and learn more about this industry,” says Auyonika, who passed two actuarial exams and completed one co-op term during her undergraduate degree at York. “The courses taught at York have a lot of overlap with the material covered in the actuarial exams, and so made studying for the exams a lot easier,” she adds.

The COVID-19 pandemic is a huge obstacle for many fresh graduates who join the job-market these days, but not for Auyonika. According to her, “The actuarial students and staff together have created a very supportive environment which helped me in finding employment after graduation even during a pandemic." Auyonika is also very thankful to her fellow students, “The student run actuarial club helped me on all fronts, from practice questions for the actuarial exams to case competitions which directly required me to apply the concepts I learnt in class. I am very grateful to have been part of such an immersive program."
