The Faculty of Health's Office of Student and Academic Services (OSAS) provides student advising services to Faculty of Health major students. Advising is available to all continuing and new students in Health Informatics, Health Management, Health Policy, Health Studies, Global Health, Kinesiology and Health Science, Neuroscience, Nursing and Psychology. We look forward to assisting you as you progress toward your degree.

Academic Advising Services for Faculty of Health Students

Virtual and In-Person Academic Advising

The Faculty of Health is happy to assist students with their academic advising questions! All Faculty of Health students may receive academic advising in various ways, including in-person, by telephone, email or via Zoom by accessing QLESS.

Faculty of Health students may consult with an Academic Advisor by visiting the front desk of the Office of Student and Academic Services located at 235 Calumet College. Appointment is not required.

Monday to Friday: 9:00am to 4:00pm

New Students Inquiry Form for Faculty of Health students beginning their first year of studies at York University.

Appointments are offered on a drop-in basis and wait times will be determined by the number of students in queue.

Obtain your drop-in Zoom Advising Appointment via QLESS

Monday - Friday: 9:00am to 11:30am and 1:00pm to 3:30pm

Please note, permission to add courses is granted by the department.  If you are seeking permission to enrol into a course, you will need to contact the department which offers the course for assistance.  

Peak Periods and Wait Times: wait times for drop-in advising appointments via QLess may be longer than usual during peak periods. Academic advising peak periods include the months April to September and January.

Note: If the queue is at capacity, you will encounter a notice that appointments are unavailable. You may try logging back into QLESS after a few minutes to check if the queue has decreased and appointment slots have become available. Alternatively, you may send an email using the online inquiry form with your advising questions for assistance.

What You Need to Know When Accessing Academic Advising via QLESS:

  • After signing up for a drop-in appointment via QLESS, you will be placed in queue. Updates regarding the wait time for your appointment will be sent to you at various intervals via QLESS, so that you may prepare to log in for your appointment.  You will receive several notifications to notify you to prepare for your appointment when your turn to meet with an Academic Advisor on Zoom is approaching.
  • Appointments are offered on a drop-in basis and wait times will be determined by the number of students in queue.

The Faculty of Health will continue to receive academic petitions online on the Faculty of Health Petitions page.

You can access academic petition support by attending a petitions webinar on Zoom.
