Information for Researchers

The Canada Foundation for Innovation (CFI) and Tri-Agency (NSERC, SSHRC, and CIHR) have a dedicated web site containing the most up-to-date information addressing:

  • Securing a grant
  • Financial management responsibilities
  • Reporting requirements

As funding is predicated on meeting stated criteria, external funding agencies conduct regular monitoring visits or site audits to ensure York researchers are compliant with all regulatory requirements.

The following pages are intended to assist researchers in managing research grants in accordance with requirements of external funding agencies, particularly as most grants allow for eligible expenses such as goods or services directly related to a research project.  This information pertains to all external grants. Additional resources are also available on the Finance website under Managing Research Grants.

To ensure that expenditures are compliant with funding agency requirements as they relate to the procurement of goods and services, researchers are required to be familiar with and adhere to York University’s Policy on the Procurement of Goods and Service.
