Community & Social Impact
A - Social Projects or Initiatives
Integricon is a proud CAMSC-certified minority-owned company (Certificate No. A-14586), reflecting our long-standing commitment to supplier diversity and the economic empowerment of Indigenous and racialized communities across the GTA. Our internal culture is deeply rooted in ESG and DEI principles, with 71% of our workforce and 74% of our senior leadership identifying as visible minorities. Furthermore, 45% of our employees and over 50% of our leadership team are women - remarkable figures in a traditionally male-dominated sector. These outcomes are the result of inclusive, performance-based hiring practices supported by tools such as the Predictive Index Assessment, which helps remove bias and ensure the best candidate is selected for the role based on fit and ability.
Our commitment to social impact extends beyond our walls. We engage directly with communities through initiatives such as our long-standing partnership with Special Olympics Canada, where we have raised over $100,000 through our annual Bowl-A-Thon in support of athletes with intellectual disabilities. This initiative aligns with the UN Sustainable Development Goals, specifically Good Health and Well-Being (Goal #3) and Reduced Inequality (Goal #10).
In terms of procurement, Integricon supports social enterprises such as Habitat for Humanity ReStores, to which we donate surplus materials like cabinetry and building components. These contributions support affordable housing while reducing construction waste. Internally, we have a Culture Committee that fosters inclusivity through engagement events, and we conduct the Guarding Minds mental health and inclusion survey annually.
Our leadership actively contributes to building stronger community foundations, including our CEO’s recent appointment to the Board of Directors at SickKids. We also contribute to organizations such as Women’s College Hospital Foundation, St. Michael’s Foundation, and William Osler Health System Foundation - demonstrating our deep commitment to community health and social equity.
B - Environmental Sustainability Practices
At Integricon, environmental sustainability is a core pillar of our corporate strategy, led by board-level oversight and a commitment to allocate 1% of annual sales to research and development in sustainability and innovation. Our environmental practices focus on measurable reductions in waste, water, energy, and greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions - with progress tracked and reported through third-party ESG audits and aligned with global climate science.
In 2024, Integricon became officially registered with the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), and our GHG emissions reduction targets were approved in 2025. Using 2022 as our base year, our verified targets are:
- A 42% reduction in Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 2030
- A 25% reduction in Scope 3 emissions by 2030
These targets are driving our operational decisions across all business units. Our 2022 GHG inventory established:
- Scope 1 and 2 emissions: 583.7 tCO₂e
- Scope 3 emissions: 8,618.7 tCO₂e (primarily from our supply chain)
While Scope 3 emissions remain a significant challenge, we are proactively engaging vendors and subcontractors on sustainable procurement, fuel efficiency, and emissions tracking.
Key Initiatives:
- Waste Diversion & Material Reuse: On every job site, we implement robust waste sorting protocols to maximize diversion from landfill. Reusable surplus materials are donated to Habitat for Humanity ReStores, and excess paint is returned to clients for future touch-ups.
- Drying Technology & Preservation: Our use of high-efficiency, specialty drying equipment extends the life of built materials and reduces the need for demolition and replacement, lowering embodied carbon emissions.
- Telemetric Fleet Management: All service vehicles are equipped with GPS and telemetry for route optimization and idle-time reduction - core strategies in reducing Scope 1 emissions. We are actively progressing toward our goal of a fully electric fleet by 2027.
- Water Conservation via Connected Sensors: Our subsidiary, Connected Sensors, offers IoT water leak detection and flood prevention systems, helping clients significantly reduce water waste and prevent damage. These technologies are installed in residential towers, healthcare facilities, and commercial and institutional portfolios.
- Low-toxicity Cleaning Products: We prioritize environmentally responsible cleaning solutions like Benefect and Envirocare, improving indoor air quality and reducing the need for power-intensive mechanical ventilation.
Measurable Outcomes:
- Significant GHG emission reductions through telemetric fleet efficiencies and on-site energy-saving practices
- Landfill diversion metrics tracked via internal audits and third-party verification
- Reduced water usage and flood-related material damage enabled by Connected Sensors’ real-time monitoring and analytics
- Third-party ESG reporting conducted by KPMG, with a full ESG strategy to be launched in the coming fiscal year
