We offer off-the shelf as well as custom training sessions to all members of the York community. These sessions are are available in a variety of formats: in person, online synchronous and asynchronous (self guided and/or flipped classroom).

CHREI's Education Team creates and conducts workshops, training, community events, and knowledge exchange opportunities that:

Support students, staff, and faculty in navigating current CHREI trends and topics

With a focus on facilitating equitable and inclusive dialogue, training sessions are available by request to faculty, staff, and students.

The sessions we run can be counted towards employee professional development and learning plans. Participation in sessions conducted via YU Learn are automatically reflected on employee records.

We host knowledge exchange series featuring thought-leaders who are advancing human rights, equity, and inclusion through their teaching and research.

We highlight innovative faculty and graduate students at York and within the GTA, will stimulate dialogue, and will help highlight York University’s contributions as a leader in the sphere of human rights, equity, and inclusion.

We also conduct sessions as part of the regular on-boarding sessions as well as advanced and custom sessions for executive leadership and managers on various DEDI themes and topics organized by the OLPE. All of our online sessions are offered through YU Learn.

  • The CHREI conducts the Rights, Equity, Decolonizing, Diversity & Inclusion (REDDI) workshop series during the fall, winter and summer sessions.
  • We also offer both off-the shelf and custom sessions for organizations, offices and faculties.

We do not issue certificates for attendance of a single training session. We do offer the following certificate programs which require participation in a set number of sessions:

  • REDDI Mini- Series Certificate (Preventing Sex and Gender Harassment and Discrimination) 
  • REDDI Mini-Series Certificate (Promoting Accessibility and Proactive Accommodations)

CHREI's mandate is to provide these services to the York community. This means that our sessions are only available to members of the York community. For both the REDDI series and the Online Learning modules on YU Learn and E-Class, you need access to Passport York (PY) in order to register. The Division of Advancement - Alumni & Friends offers training opportunities for alumni.

All trainings you attended (as well as upcoming ones you registered for) on YU Learn are reflection on your Dashboard (yorku.ca). Every time you complete the requirements for a certificate program, you will automatically receive the corresponding certificate (in PDF form) via email.

Faculties and units who want to keep track of team learning can also coordinate with their respective People Partners who have access to this information.

Yes, organizations, offices and units may request in-person customized sessions. Whether these sessions are conducted during regular class sessions or staff development sessions, the requesting group/individual is expected to make arrangements for the venue.

Please note, under regular circumstances, we require at least three weeks’ notice to schedule and prepare training. The fall term (especially during the first 2 months) is very busy so make sure to plan ahead. The final schedules and arrangements will be subject to both staff and participants' availability.
