Government Relations

Government Relations at York University aims to cultivate and enhance strategic relationships with elected and non-elected officials at all levels of government and to advance York's institutional priorities and vision in the process. Our goal is to increase awareness of the University’s unique strengths and objectives while promoting a broader understanding of York, its complexities and operational requirements.

The York University Brief

The Office of the President produces a monthly newsletter, titled The York University Brief, for our government partners and external stakeholders who are interested in discovering more about our innovative community. You can sign up for it here.

Contacting Government Officials

Faculties, departments and units at York University are frequently interested in contacting public officials at all levels of government to secure their support for University initiatives, invite them to speak at events, or to share information of interest with them.

In order to maintain professional working relationships with these public officials, the Office of the President has developed a protocol that requires all university departments and units contact the Chief of Government and Community Relations & Protocol prior to initiating contact with these officials.

To inform the Chief of Government and Community Relations & Protocol of the intent to contact with public officials, please fill out our Government Officials Contact form here.
