The Ubale Bursary Fund will be awarded to students who are affiliated with the Poverty Eradication Club which was founded by Dr. Ubale and/or McLaughlin College, who are Canadian citizens, permanent residents or protected persons, and residents of Ontario, who demonstrate financial need and a commitment to social justice through their volunteer work. This fund is named after Dr. Bhausaheb Ubale, a well-loved Fellow of McLaughlin College (1985 - 2012) who died on March 14, 2012 from complications related to pneumonia. Dr. Ubale was a former Human Rights Commissioner of both the Ontario Human Rights Commission and the Canadian Human Rights Commission. He was also the first Race Relations Commissioner for the Province of Ontario.
