Program Overview

The Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) in Technological Education is a full-time, professional degree program. Students are engaged five days per week, combining coursework at York’s Keele Campus with school-based placements.

Class schedules typically run from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Graduates will be qualified to teach Grades 9 to 12 (Intermediate–Senior level) in one of the following technological subject areas:

  • Communication Technology
  • Computer Technology
  • Construction Technology
  • Green Industries
  • Hairstyling & Aesthetics
  • Health Care
  • Hospitality and Tourism
  • Manufacturing Technology
  • Technological Design
  • Transportation Technology

Note: For eligible students, Technological Education may be taken as one teachable subject at the Intermediate–Senior level, with the option to add a second teaching subject.

Program Options

The Consecutive B.Ed. program is open to individuals who meet one of the following criteria:

  1. Hold a recognized three-year Advanced Diploma in a technology field related to the Technological Education curriculum, with a minimum “B” average and two years of related work experience.
  2. Hold a degree in a technology field from a recognized college or university, with a minimum “B” average and two years of related work experience in the same field.
  3. Hold a degree in any field and five years of work experience in a relevant technological area, with a minimum “B” average.
  4. Hold a Certificate of Qualification in a related technology field (in good standing with the Ontario College of Trades), with two years of related work experience.

The Concurrent B.Ed. program is open to current York University students pursuing a degree in a related technology field.

Applicants must have a minimum of two years of relevant work experience prior to graduating with the B.Ed.

All applications are submitted through the Ontario Universities’ Application Centre (OUAC) or Teacher Education Application Service (TEAS).

  • Consecutive B.Ed. in Technological Education: Apply by December 1, 2025
