Math & French Tests

Intermediate Basic Math Proficiency Test

To enroll in the Intermediate Basic (Mathematics) Additional Qualification course, registrants who have not completed TWO full university degree credit courses in Mathematics (i.e. calculus, geometry, linear algebra, statistics) are required to successfully complete our Intermediate Basic Math proficiency test administered through the Professional Learning Office before being admitted in the AQ course.

This test:

  • is administered after registration; applicants are notified by email
  • is completed online
  • is comprised of a timed multiple choice set of questions
  • requires a minimum grade of 60% (C) to be eligible for admission

All test results are final and not subject to appeals. One test attempt permitted per session.

Ineligible applicants can opt to:

  1. Transfer to another course OR,
  2. Withdraw for a full refund less the non-refundable test and registration fee amounts.

The tutorial

  • is a sample test that is intended to be completed in one hour
  • provides an overview of the course content
  • is a brief preparation for the test itself

Print the PDF "Question" file, complete the multiple choice tutorial then view/print the "Answer" pdf file and compare.

French Language Proficiency Test

To enroll in the French as a Second Language Part 1 Additional Qualification, registrants must successfully complete a French Language proficiency test administered through the Professional Learning Office before being admitted in the AQ course.

The test:

  • is administered after registration; applicants are notified by email
  • includes an online component divided into written, reading comprehension, grammar  and oral categories
  • requires a level 3 or 4 proficiency in each category to pass the admission test - Learn more about the Language Proficiency Rubrics

All test results are final and not subject to appeals. One test attempt permitted per session.

Pour réussir le test d'admission au cours de FSL, les candidats devront compléter et réussir (niveau 3 pour chacun) les taches suivantes: la lecture d'un texte ainsi qu'une compréhension de ce texte; répondre oralement à des questions afin de démontrer les habiletés de communication, la partie écriture est composée de 25 questions d'ordre grammatical ainsi que d'une épreuve d'écriture libre (200 mots).
