Pre-Education BEd Concurrent Students

Concurrent BEd Direct Entry model

As a student admitted to the Concurrent Bachelor of Education (pre-education program model) and enrolled in ED/EDUC 1000 first year of studies, please refer to the Faculty of Education Academic Calendar for the program requirements. View Programs (yorku.ca)

Maintaining your Eligibility for the Program: To be eligible to continue in the Faculty of Education, Concurrent BEd program, students are required to receive a minimum of a C+ grade in the mandatory three credit course ED/EDUC 1000 Rethinking Schooling. You must also maintain a minimum of a C+ overall grade point average in the co registered faculty (undergraduate program) and be eligible to continue in your undergraduate program. Students will enroll in the Bachelor of Education program in years 5 and 6 of their studies.

Students must have a C+ average in their undergraduate program by the time they begin the BEd.

Continuing Requirements

  • Students who fail to maintain a C+ overall average or a 5.00 grade point average in the Faculty of co-registration will not be considered eligible to proceed in education.
  • Students will be ineligible to continue in the BEd degree program if they receive less than a grade of C+ in any course taken for education BEd program/credit

Teachable requirements

Primary/Junior  - This program does not require specific teaching subjects.

Junior/Intermediate – Concurrent This program requires certification in one recognized teaching subject/panel.  The teachable is 24.00 credits. Visit View Programs (yorku.ca)  and look at Junior/Intermediate/ – Bachelor of Education – Concurrent

Intermediate/Senior – Concurrent This program requires certification in two recognized teaching subjects/panels.  The first teachable is 36.00 credits and second teachable is 18.00 credits.  Visit View Programs (yorku.ca)  and look at Intermediate/Senior – Bachelor of Education – Concurrent

Graduation Requirements

In order to remain co-registered in the Faculty of Education or to graduate, students must maintain a competent standard of performance in both their academic Faculty and in the Faculty of Education. Students will be ineligible to continue or to graduate if they fall into any one of the categories listed below.

  • Students who fail to maintain a C+ overall average or a 5.00 grade point average in the faculty/program of co-registration by their final year in their Undergraduate degree program will not be considered eligible to proceed in education.
  • Students will be ineligible to continue in the BEd degree program if they receive less than a grade of C+ in any course taken for education credit.
  • Students in the junior/intermediate or intermediate/senior division are expected to achieve a minimum grade of C+ in each course that is required to fulfill the requirements for a teaching subject.
