Important Dates

Graduate studies at York consists of three academic terms: Fall term, Winter term, and Summer term.

8Drop Deadline: Deadline to drop course(s) without receiving a grade (via manual form), Fall [FA24] term. Courses dropped after this date (via petition), will be reflected with a W grade.
30Deadline for Graduate students to apply to graduate in February 2025.

15Students who did not register for Fall term [FA24] will be withdrawn from the program for failure to maintain continuous registration unless a Leave of Absence was approved.
20Deadline to register for Winter term [WI25].
21$200 Late registration fee for Winter term [W25] will be applied.

15Refund—80% refund date for Fall [FA24] term.
31Refund—40% refund date for Fall [FA24] term.

Deadline for reassessment at the domestic tuition rate for the current Fall/Winter session. For international students requesting a status change.
NOVEMBER
18Recommended date to apply for Winter-only OSAP and submit supporting documents. 
DECEMBER
21$200 Late registration fee for Winter term [WI25] will be applied.

NOVEMBER
1Deadline for Students to submit Research Proposals for Ethics to program office for approval to commence in January 2025.
4Deadline for submission of Ethics Proposals requiring ORE approval for MRP Research using human subjects to the Faculty of Graduate Studies.
6Deadline for Graduate Programs to submit Research Proposals for Ethics to FGS for approval to commence in January 2025.
8Deadline for the Faculty of Graduate Studies to receive recommendations for Oral examination from Graduate Programs for Doctoral students expected to fulfill all degree requirements for February 2025 convocation.
15Deadline for the Faculty of Graduate Studies to receive recommendations for Oral examination from Graduate Programs for Master's students expected to fulfill all degree requirements for February 2025 convocation.
DECEMBER
6Last day to hold Master’s/Doctoral defence exams in the Fall [FA24] term (for Fall term completion). Exams held after this date will be coded for Winter term [WI25].
16Deadline to upload Electronic Thesis and Dissertation for FA24 completion and February 2025 degree conferral.
NOVEMBER
15Recommended deadline to submit Academic Petition (e.g. leave of absence, change to part-time/full-time status, extension of program time limits, reinstatement) for Winter [WI25] term (processing before W25 guaranteed).
DECEMBER
31Final deadline to submit Academic Petition (e.g. leave of absence, change to part-time/full-time status, extension of program time limits, reinstatement) for Winter [WI25] term (processing before W25 not guaranteed).
SEPTEMBER
15Administrative Deadline - Deadline for graduate programs to submit summer term grades to the Registrar's Office.
20Adminstrative Deadline  - Deadline for graduate program to submit degree audit for October Convocation. 
OCTOBER
15Administrative Deadline—All summer [SU24] term courses with blank and incomplete grades converted to F grade unless an approved course extension has been granted.

April Reminder
1Summer [SU25] term registration and enrolment online access begins.
4Fall/Winter [Y24–25] and Winter [WI25] term classes end.
30All degree requirements, including final grades, must be met by April 30, 2025 to convocate in June 2025.
30Deadline for Graduate Students to apply to graduate for Spring 2025 Convocation.
