Seconded Faculty Positions

Application for Secondment - 2026-27 Academic Year

Please complete the application for the position of a seconded faculty member in the Faculty of Education at York University for the 2026-27 academic year. Please copy and paste your cover letter into the application.  

Secondees hold a variety of teaching, mentorship and service roles in the Faculty of Education. They teach courses in the Bachelor of Education program, from early September to late June (Fall, Winter, and Summer semesters). They are also expected to participate in service to the Faculty, including reading student application files for admission to the Bachelor of Education program, and participation in committees, such as the Committee for Curriculum, Teaching and Learning, Secondee Hiring Committee, Justice, Equity, and Reparation of Anti-Black Racism Committee, and others, as well as other operational supports. The role of the seconded faculty member involves: 

  • Teaching courses (4.0 Teaching Load, which is equivalent to eight half-courses) 
  • Providing service to the Faculty of Education, as indicated above 

This year, there are 3 positions posted.  

  • Position 1: BEd Program - Special Education Specialist - Potentially includes teaching in PJ, JI and IS panels on Keele, Glendon, TMU, TDSB and Markham campuses. Special Education Specialist qualifications required.  Recent experience as a teacher in Special Education in schools. May also teach educational foundations courses and other subjects in the BEd program.  
  • Position 2: BEd Program - Indigenous Education - Includes teaching in the Waaban program (PJ and JI panels) on both Keele and downtown TDSB locations as well as other BEd courses. Must be of FNMI ancestry. The successful application should have experience teaching across various subject areas within PJ/JI. May teach educational foundations courses and other subjects in the BEd program. 
  • Position 3: BEd Program - Health and Physical Education - Includes teaching in PJ, JI and IS panels, potentially on Keele, Glendon, and Markham campuses. Health and Physical Education Specialist qualifications required. Current teaching experience in the subject required. May teach educational foundations courses and other subjects in the BEd program. 

Please note that these are one-year contracts with a general intent to renew for up to three years. Full-time, permanent teachers and school administrators from partner school boards (see list on the application) with teaching or coaching experience within the last five years are welcome to submit applications.
