Andrea Lamantia is 2021 graduate of the program and looking forward to beginning a career as a Teacher of the Deaf.
I’ve had many different teaching positions throughout my career - ESL teacher, college chemistry teacher, and high school science teacher. However, my most important teaching position came after my daughter was born with profound hearing loss. I learned all I could, accepted any help from service providers that was offered and wanted to be the best teacher for my child that I could.
We also had an amazing Teacher of the Deaf who came to our home and supported my daughter and family on our journey. The support we received from our home visiting teacher was invaluable and I was inspired to start my own journey to become a teacher of the deaf. My hope is to help support other students and families in the way my family was supported. Right now, I am focusing on my family, but am looking forward to starting my career in deaf education when the time is right.
