Graduate Diplomas offer students the opportunity to explore a topic of interest in education. They can be taken concurrently with a Master of Education (MEd) or Doctorate (PhD), or taken as a stand-alone non-degree program. The diploma can supplement the learning in a graduate degree program or provide individuals with knowledge in a subject area and the opportunity to develop academic skills in writing and research.
Current students who are interested in pursuing one of these diplomas should speak with the appropriate diploma coordinator. Coordinators may change from year to year; please check online for the most updated list of coordinators. More diploma information and checklists can be found on our Current Students - Graduate page under "Forms".
Official program information is in the Faculty of Graduate Studies Calendar.
- Find out how to apply!
- Note that ALL components of the application (including references) are due by the deadline.
- Submit your online application at least three weeks in advance in order to give your references time to complete their components of your application! (It will take approximately 5 business days to obtain your MyFile link, and then you will need to add references' information; they need two weeks to complete their submission.)
- Please be advised that programs in the Faculty of Education are intended to be delivered on campus or in official offsite locations in Toronto. It is an expectation that students attend all classes in their scheduled format (whether online, blended or in-person) in order to complete degree/diploma requirements.
Graduate Diplomas that are taken as a stand-alone program (Type 1) can only be taken on a part-time basis. Diploma courses will be available each term, but not all courses are offered each academic year.
Note: Courses that are counted toward one Graduate Diploma cannot be double-counted towards an additional, separate Graduate Diploma. Students can take a maximum of two graduate diplomas concurrently with a degree program.
Note: Students completing stand-alone graduate diplomas are not eligible for funding.
