Horizon Europe

Canadian researchers are now eligible to apply for research fund though Horizon Europe. Horizon Europe is the European Union's research funding framework for 2021-2027. With a budget of €95.5 billion, it is the world largest research and innovation funding program. The framework has three main pillars: Pillar 1: Excellent Science, Pillar 2: Global Challenges and European Industrial Competitiveness; and Pillar 3: Innovative Europe.

Canada is only associated with Pillar 2. This gives Canadian institutions the ability to apply for and access funding through Pillar 2 opportunities. This pillar aims to advance scientific excellence, foster innovation, and address societal challenges through collaborative research.

Horizon Europe offers researcher the chance to not only access new research funding, but also expand their research networks, elevate their international research profile and contribute to impactful research.
