BILL 166 REPORTING
As part of York’s commitment to fulfilling the requirements of Ontario's Strengthening Accountability and Student Supports Act (Bill 166), this annual report highlights York University’s efforts to enhance student mental health services on its campuses. This report provides relevant data on access to mental health resources, demonstrating our dedication to prioritizing student well-being and supporting their academic and personal success.

WELL-BEING STRATEGY ANNUAL REPORT
This report outlines our progress in implementing the Well-being strategy, including efforts to promote mental health, foster belonging, and enhance access to resources. Through collaboration, evidence-informed practices, and strategic initiatives, York remains committed to creating a supportive and inclusive environment for all members of the community.

York students are invited to participate in the Canadian Campus Wellbeing Survey (CCWS), coordinated by the University of British Columbia (UBC), every three years. The survey collects important information on demographics, campus climate, academic achievement, mental health, health service use, physical health, substance use and food security.
The results contribute to York University’s efforts to advance its Well-being Strategy and to uphold its commitments under the Okanagan Charter. The administration of the CCWS at York University was reviewed and approved by the Office of Research Ethics (ORE), file #e2021-337.
Reports based on York’s CCWS results are made available on this webpage. These summaries provide insights into student experiences and well-being, and they are intended to support ongoing planning, decision-making and community engagement.
CCWS Executive Summary: Data Reporting & Usage
The Canadian Campus Wellbeing Survey (CCWS) is a well-being assessment that supports post-secondary institutions in assessing health and well-being on campuses, identify priorities for intervention and increase capacity to link research with policy and practice.
To support transparency in data reporting, York's general CCWS results are available on the Well-being Strategy Reports webpage. Its intended usage and limitations are listed below:
- York’s CCWS results are used for reporting on campus well-being and are used to support health promotion activities, program/service development and funding applications for wellness supports and resources.
- York-specific CCWS results are to be used for quality improvement and enhancement of well-being services, programs and supports for York students.
- These provided results cannot be used by any individuals at York or by third parties for research purposes.
- For researchers interested in pursuing investigator-initiated research in relation to national CCWS data, please contact the University of British Columbia to submit a data access application.
