York teacher candidate Victoria Ennis represented York’s Faculty of Education at the recent Ontario Secondary School Teachers’ Federation Annual Meeting of the Provincial Assembly (AMPA), which took place at the Sheraton Centre Toronto Hotel March 10 – 13.

Presently a student in Faculty’s BEd in Technological Education program, Victoria was the lone teacher candidate from York University among the many other teacher candidates from universities across the province to attend the meeting.

“The experience was enriching to say the least,” said Victoria. “ I wasn't aware of the effort that is put into changing and altering policies to better the work environment for public educators. Noticing the commitment that was put forward from all of the members at the conference really put the need for educators to come together to fight for issues that matter into perspective for me. I have never experienced a democratic process of that scale before, and it was an honour to participate in the meetings.”

Over 500 delegates from across the province attended OSSTF/FEESO’s AMPA 2017 to pass motions, vote on policies, and adopt the OSSTF/FEESO budget.
