Assistant Professor John Hupfield was awarded an Insight Development Grant for a project titled 'Miikaans mobile movement lab: understanding Anishinaabeg haptic knowledges through digital media'. The Miikaans Mobile Movement Lab asks how academia might support the cultural resurgence (Simpson, 2011) and decolonization of not only the minds of Anishinaabeg, but also their bodies. The lab sets out to utilize digital photography, digital video, and audio recordings to document and elicit meanings of embodied and haptic knowledges (Yunktaporta, 2019) that are interwoven within the stories, dances, and movements that occur at powwow as 'place' (Hupfield, 2023) and on the Land (Styres, 2018) for Anishinaabeg

To complement the quantitative analysis, Parekh and her team will be conducting a critical policy analysis, reviewing each of Ontario's 72 school boards special education plans
