David Hunter Jorgensen was a graduate of the Master's program in English at York University and a member of the Doctoral program. His family has established this award in his honour, to recognize a Master’s or Doctoral student with a disability.

Adjudication Description
The award committee is seeking applications that clearly demonstrate academic excellence and a meaningful connection to the theme of critical disability theory and equity.
Your Research Proposal, Personal Statement, and any supporting documents or files should collectively demonstrate:
- Academic excellence
- Research/scholarly/creative work impact
- Knowledge or lived experience as a full-time or part-time Master's or Doctoral student living with a disability.
- Substantive recommendation from referee
